ACWA’s primary mission is to support members’ efforts to protect and enhance Oregon’s water quality through the representation of wastewater and stormwater management agencies in the development and implementation of State environmental policies and programs, providing education and outreach, and facilitating collaborative and sustainable management of water resources.
The activities of the Water Quality Committee are instrumental in achieving ACWA’s mission and priorities. The Committee supports ACWA’s priority initiatives related to advocacy and support for the development of implementable and cost-effective municipal wastewater discharge permits and for compliance strategies and initiatives that achieve meaningful water quality results through sustainable “one water” strategies.
The Committee meets monthly and provides a forum to stay abreast of regulatory challenges and compliance strategies, provides educational opportunities, and maintains a strong peer-to-peer network for information and problem-solving.
