Each year, ACWA’s Board develops and updates its annual priorities. These often include long-standing topics as well as emerging issues that require ACWA’s collective efforts and attention. The priorities for ACWA are focused on four functional areas:
- Advocacy and support for the development and implementation of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) permits for wastewater and stormwater facilities.
- Advancing Sustainable Utilities
- Outreach and Engagement
- Organizational Effectiveness and Efficiency
Within these focus areas, specific topics include but are not limited to water reuse, biosolids, permit development and compliance, TMDL implementation, development of water quality standards, natural treatment systems and green infrastructure, climate resiliency and adaptation, and developing and maintaining relationships with other organizations that have a shared goal to protect and enhance Oregon’s water quality.
